The Courageous Inclusion Ethos
Courageous Inclusion is designed to reach far beyond simple awareness raising and knowledge building and therefore create transformational results with proven, business benefit. Our approach has grown out of Psychology, Gestalt and Organisation Development approaches, incorporating experiential, blended learning in real-world complex environments. The programmes have impact beyond Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), enabling leaders to continually transform themselves, their teams and organisations through contemporary complex and uncertain, changing environments.

The Courageous Inclusion ethos is characterised by:
- Wholistic and intersectional approach, developing skill in complexity and uncertainty and reflecting real-world situations
- Use evidence-based techniques (including experiential development and blended learning) to achieve measurable impact
- Ensure everyone can apply EDI in their everyday roles, creating inclusive teams and cultures
- Help people achieve their own potential and value everyone's unique contributions
- Embed DEI into the organisation from Strategy, through engaged leaders into high-performing teams
- Role model creation of environments which establish safety and trust, valuing and including diversity both in-person and virtually
Our programmes are grounded in the following beliefs and principles:
- We provide an environment for growth, by enabling people to tap into their innate capacity to connect more deeply to their authentic nature - connecting to their physical, psychological and emotional reality through awareness and compassion
- We recognise issues of Diversity and Inclusion are inherently relational, we help people explore their relationships in the context of Diversity and Inclusion with a stance of shared learning, compassion and connection
- We provide a local, national and global context, offering opportunities for personal growth in relationship to a diverse community
- We recognise and encourage exploration of our complex, intersectional identities, covering all forms of diversity (e.g. personality, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, (dis)ability, neurodiversity, religion, age and socio-economic status)

"I have found the programme genuinely transformational. I have learned so much about DEI issues including; how to be more inclusive in my interactions and practice and how to use my privilege for the benefit of others. I am committed to doing more around DEI and I would like to thank Al for being a major part of that journey.
If you want to create business value by developing a more inclusive, open, honest, positive culture, the Courageous Inclusion programme has to be right up there on your priority list. I can't recommend the programme highly enough.”

“Yes, I 100% would recommend this programme to others. I think some people see EDI as the "next buzz word" and maybe have the same opinion that I did at the start that this is just a check box exercise. But it truly wasn’t.
It was challenging, thought provoking and never once did I feel like I was been "preached" at or chastised for making mistakes. I felt I could ask questions that maybe I had been too worried about or uncomfortable to ask before and could ask them without fear of judgement or reproach. The creation of a safe space is paramount for the success of any EDI programme."
Attendee, Pensions Policy Institute

“Al is an engaging and encouraging coach and leader in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging. We have worked with Al for over a year, and have moved from having very little DEIB infrastructure, to being on the cusp of a transformational strategy. Personally, I have found 'ah ha' moments in all of my coaching sessions with Al and consider her a valued part of my network.”
